UCCFS: Burgers vs Sushi Round 1

Folks, this is the last matchup in the 1st round of the Ultimate Chilehead Comfort Food Showdown. The thing that intrigues me the most about this round is the possible matchup in the 2nd round of Burgers vs Hot Dogs. It doesn’t get anymore Americana than that. While here we have longshot #15 seed sushi more Japanese culture than American food, and that might be why the burger will trounce sushi. Don’t get me wrong, because my love of sushi is super strong, but it is so unfair to pit it up against an iconic American staple like the burger. It doesn’t even matter if it is a turkey or elk burger we are talking about, raw fish can never in the mind of an American who has ever attended a BBQ to vote for it. I so look forward to having my sushi roll dipped in my heavy wasabi treated soy sauce, and get the best chilehead rush know to man, but it still can’t hold the torch to the burger.

Do I even need to tell you about all the different type of burger toppings like ummm bacon? Wrap your raw salmon around that baby! I do not need to go any further because the votes will justify why the burger is a #2 seed here, and why sushi despite it’s glamor status will get on a boat back to Japan within the first hour of the 2 day voting window.

Please share your 2 cents worth in this Japanese General Custer reenactment.

You eat sushi? There should be some during our Annual Asian Dinner.

I’ve always said I’ll try anything once… I even tried sushi twice. Just can’t get into it. Burgers win this one, hands down.

The last time Tyson fought in Japan he lost to Buster Douglas in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history. Just saying.

Tyson KO’d Douglas at the close of the 8th round. Buster actually got up on the count of 10, not 9 like the officials called it. Just ask Don King.
