Firehead Thomas Goes Boom
Firehead Thomas and I headed to a local garden show in Leesburg, VA to meet up with the Chile Man, who is a local salsa legend. His Basilicious is one my all time favorites. Well many of you will never get a chance to try his products because he is just one of those guys happy to share his products with the town folk in Northern Virginia, and not expand beyond those perimeters. He has so many products that he can rival some of the biggest hot sauce makers out there. I been trying to get him to attend a show, but he is just unbending. He told me a couple of times all ready, “Maybe one day, Buddah. Just keep asking me.” So I did, and I will the next time.
Thomas met him for the first time, and he wanted to dive into the Chile Man’s newest creation, an extract sauce called Boom. He claims the sauce is rated at 1.1 million scu. I had the camera ready to roll, so take a look to see if Firehead Thomas can really handle the fiery heat or will he go Boom?

A little about the Chile Man’s products:
The Chile Man offers 16 all natural products, each one just bursting with flavor. You’ll taste papaya, cumin, rosemary, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, honey, lime, and more!
Each sauce features chile peppers grown on our bio-intensive farm, and ranges from mildly spicy to pleasantly hot. And because we use ingredients fresh from the farm, our gourmet sauces offer a freshness and a flavor you simply can’t find in stores.
Like the micro-brewing of good beer, our sauces are hand-crafted in small batches to ensure both quality and flavor. Though the process is labor-intensive, we believe it offers a taste experience you simply can’t find elsewhere.
Our sauces and salsas lend excitement to your cooking, making meals from fast-food to fricassee taste better than ever. (And wait until you try them with breakfast!)
But Chile Man sauces aren’t just spicy; they also taste good – and they’re naturally low in calories and carbohydrates. Most of our Potions have none at all!
Each sauce can be used as a marinade or on the grill, used as an addition to a recipe, or simply used for dipping, to add a little extra zing to your dining experience.
You’ll find Crazy About Curry, our cinnamon marinade, goes great on ribs. Jumpin’ Jamaica Jerk – with allspice and cloves – adds a new, smoky dimension to chicken or pork. Blazin’ Belize is packed with flavor – onions, carrots, and lots of lime – but this Habanero hot sauce also offers plenty of heat. And we offer a selection of lighter sauces, such as Louisiana Lightnin’ and Gimme Some Ginger, just perfect for vegetarian dishes. Even our salsas and mustards can be used in cooking. Check the recipe section of our web site for suggestions that will save you time in the kitchen!
Best of all, there is nothing artificial in any of our sauces – no thickeners, no additives, no preservatives, and no fillers. And no chemicals are used in the growing of our peppers. Which means our sauces come to you just the way nature intended.
I will say that the burn crept up on me a bit, and although I stand by the statement of “not too bad”, I did end up getting an ice cream cone moments later! I would eat more, I really liked it:)
You didn’t have any ice cream for at least 30 minutes later, so I do not believe that counts.
But I wanted it:)
You wanted it before you had the Boom. Still doesn’t count.
LOL…true…funnel cake too!
