Parker Goes to King Taco

A couple of months back a guy sent me an email requesting information on a taco sauce that tasted just like the red taco sauce from Taco King. He said there are blog threads solely dedicated to the King Taco sauce debate. Never having heard of Taco King, I didn’t know what to suggest to compare it to. I just said CaJohn’s Oaxacan, and he ordered some the next day. I haven’t heard back from him, so I do not know if it was comparable to it. Hopefully it was. I told Parker about Taco King since it was a California chain, but he hadn’t ever tried it. One day he decided to take a trip out there and see what the big hubbub was. This is his Taco King experience and his review of the mythical red taco sauce.

Parker, sorry this post didn’t make it on by 9:00pm. I was talking with buddah on the phone. So we cut our convo short so he could get this post up.

I threw this together in 15 minutes because Buddah needed something and he couldn’t wait for my inner artist to arrive.

The meat was very typical of taco shops around here. Good, but overdone and cut into very small pcs.
There sauce sets them apart from the rest. I’ll be seeing them real soon as they are a major sponsor at the LA County fair which opened today. So for the next 3 weeks I have a King Taco a hair over 2 miles away…..and I like to ride my bike down there!!! :bike:

As far as a sauce you can buy I can’t think of anything. Like I said it reminds me of a spicy enchilada sauce. No vinegar that’s for sure.
I called them and asked if I could buy the sauce and they sell 6 oz for 2.45.

You will have to ask Scott on that one. I still do not know how to set them up. I figured out the web banners though. :_bananadancing:

So, how can I get me some of that sauce? You don’t have to pack it in dry ice, just foil it up, ziploc it and ship me one or two. Don’t forget I am your mustard lifeline. :skateboard:
