Fireside Chat: January 2011

Happy Happy New Year everyone! I hope that 2011 will be a lot better for everyone than previous years in both success and happiness. The fireside chat is the off topic thread which is a place to chat outside of the other topics. You can discuss almost anything here, within reason of course. We hope you handle yourselves with the dignity of a young English chap asking his maiden’s Father for permission of marriage. Okay maybe that is a bit more than what I would expect, just don’t make fun of anyone’s Momma and we will be okay.

Jim, any changes you make in your Gravatar sometimes takes a little time to show up. Be patient and it will come. I see one now with a family in it.

I ordered from them too, but it hasn’t been that long. I’d give it more than 6 weeks before you get too angry….it could have been held up in customs.

Gerald Fowler ships fast sometimes and sometimes takes forever. I once waited two months to get chile seeds. I think he took his time shipping them because he knew I sold seeds. Oh well he won’t get my business anymore either. Orders can get lost or held up but when this happens I always get back with my customers. It’s the right thing to do!

Is that the Naga Viper Sauce? It took exactly 5 weeks to get mine. They said the mail was backed up because of Christmas and that it would normally only take 2 weeks. I was worried too, but I finally did get it. It has a pretty good flavor.

My original order date Dec 10 well it figured money conversion on shipping wrong and 2 days later I paypal the rest.I never hear back from a person unless I threaten to cancel then you hear right back. They are pretty shady people to deal with. They are horrible in customer service dept.I’ll never spend another dime with them.I”ll pay more money for the same thing just to stay away from them!! 😈

I don’t think Gerald does this purposely. I think he takes on too much business and overseas customers suffer. But the bottom line is when you have a customer that is unhappy you get back to them fast. I have lost money on making it up to customers in the past and I don’t care. A good business makes things right even if it costs them. Did you get the seeds I sent you Steve??

I ordered mine a day after Steve did. It should a longer time to make it out middle America as opposed to a main airport area okey DC. That said, I ordered two bottles 1 viper and 1 of another product. They refunded the money on the other product without any reason why. They did not ask me if I wanted a substitute. I wanted two products to make the shipping worthwhile. No communicate at all then suddenly it arrived. I am grateful it arrived at all, but their communication is bad.

Another thing I wonder about and that is Darth Naga’s reaction to it. I was expecting the same. Imagine telling the YouTube viewers that pain is so intense, worst ever and also getting a percentage of sales. Now I am not saying Darth is in the up and up but after trying the sauce out the thought is floating in my subconscious. Perhaps I just got a weaker batch than he did. Not all peppers are built the same.

Agreed Buddah but I also have Cincinnato/Northern Ky airport 10 mins from my house literally 4 turns and I’m there.I think there is no excuse for how they operate they seem a little shady at best.

Yes I did Jim thanks. I may start them soon in my grow room.I usually do the wet peper towel in a ziplock bag. What way works the best for you?I would like to get them going in my grow room.Do they need light to germinate or can they germinate with only heat and moisture.

I use germination trays that can be bought online, at nurseries or a hydroponic store. The trays have a clear plastic cover. I use a heat mat under tray and fill with enough water to keep cells filled with soil moist. The heat mat I like is by a company called Sunlight. I used to use Hydrofarm but a lot of their mats died after one year. I use a good germination soil mix. The two best are Hoffman’s Seed starter mix (found online) or Happy Frog found at Hydro stores. Keep soil moist but not soggy with a spray bottle. A little chamomile tea mixed with water will prevent fungus. Keep out of light first week to avoid algae growth. Remove plastic cover about 3-4 days after sprouting. Hope this helps.
