Buddah Gets Bitten by the Naga Viper

I just received a bottle I bought of the Naga Viper sauce from the UK’s Chilli Pepper Company. You can find them at www.chileseeds.co.uk. For those of you not in the know, the Naga Viper was just recently tested by a college in the UK and now posts a claim to be the hottest chile pepper in the world with a staggering 1,340,969 SHU’s (Scoville Heat Units). I am sure further testing needs to be done to secure the title because the above college said the sampling was smaller than one would want. In any case, let them have their title for I do not like the bhut jolokia anyway! HA! The Naga Viper is a cross between the Jolokia and the Trinidad Scorpion. Ahh, technology!

Will the heat be too much? Will the taste be much like extract or will there be flavor hidden beneath all that scoville power? I opened up the bottom and had a wee bit to share with you.

I ordered a few yesterday, so I guess I won’t be expecting them to be here soon…lol – I noticed that they are out of stock on most of their sauce products.

It took 5 weeks to get mine, but they said that was because of the holidays. It’s pretty good, I like it. You only can use a few drops, it’s very hot, so that little bottle will last a while.

    Hey Jen,

How has your adventure in hot sauce been? Find any winners?

Hi. My two favorites right now are Sean’s Booyah Real Hot & Hooters 3 Mile Island. I wish Hooters would bottle their 911 sauce, I hear that one’s even better. Paula Deen’s Hot Wing Sauce is amazing, but I think it has been discontinued, it’s getting really hard to find. For spicy BBQ sauces, my favorite so far is DL Jardine’s Louisiana Cajun Cayenne. I also enjoyed Defcon 2, I’ll probably order that one again. I enjoyed most of the sauces I tried. Next I’ll be trying BWW Blazin’ and Anchor Bar.

I’m really liking the Anchor Bar suicidal, you think this one is pedestrian? It’s so good though. I liked most of the same ones you guys did- Defcon, Danny Cash, Cajohn, Otts. For sweet sauces, I liked Heartbreaking Dawn’s Datil grill sauce. DL Jardine’s, I don’t know how big of a company they are, but that is my favorite BBQ sauce. And then for suicidal sauces I liked the Anchor Bar, Sean’s Booyah, Hooters. One sauce you guys recommended had alot of garlic, so that’s pretty much the only one I didn’t like.
