Farmer’s Market Finds: Rivas Salsas De Mexico
Here is another local company that comes out to the Northern Virginian Farmer’s Markets. Over the last year I have seen them appear at 2 different Farmer’s Markets here by me. They are actually from West Virginia, but come out here for the exposure. They make authentic Mexican cooking and dipping salsa, guacamole, their own corn tortilla chips, and freshly made tamales.
A little history:
Cocina Rivas is family business that produces authentic Mexican style salsas and hot sauces. Cocina Rivas brings the lively, distinct tastes from a traditional Mexican kitchen. All products are made according to original old country recipes and produced using carefully chosen high quality ingredients.
Along with the signature sauces, other products produced include fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, tomales, gorditas, fruit and vegetable juices, and tortilla chips. These other products are primarily only sold in the local Farmers Markets, events and festivals.
Started in Shepherdstown WV in 2004, Cocina Rivas began by providing the local Jefferson County population and visiting tourists with high quality Mexican food products at the local outdoor markets.
In 2008, Cocina Rivas formally changed its DBA name to Rivas Salsas de Mexico and introduced the trademark logo and distinctive salsa labels. Expansion into several retail locations began.
In March 2009, and in 2010 Cocina Rivas was awarded a Certificate of Recognition from West Virginia Governor, Joe Manchin III for our outstanding dedication and commitment to expanding and improving our business in the Great State of West Virginia.
