When my Grandmother on my Mom’s side of the family made her apple pie, their was happiness throughout the family. Never have I ever had a pie quite like it. Whenever she complained that it didn’t come out that good, we cheered because we knew it was even better. It is like that with Jewish Grandmothers. Her apple pie was simply the best apple pie I have ever had and none, and I mean none have come close. So to put it up against french toast, well it is unfair for the french toast. I love french toast, and I love the playful way you can add various toppings to it. My Mom used to make 1 for me with American cheese on top and another 1 with cinnamon sugar. I loved them both equally. Yet even on it’s best day, Grandma’s apple pie would kick my Mom’s french toast ass. Sorry Mom. I did compliment your cooking for once though. I love ya. Speaking of Grandmothers, my Mom just became one this past Tuesday with the birth of my niece, Leighton Brooke Gauldie. Welcome to the world little one.
