November 2011 Fireside Chat

Fireside Chat is the place where you come to ask, answer and/or contemplate the universe. I ask only that you be polite to each other and any and all personal attacks will not be tolerated. Remember that there might be young-ins watching, so try to be on your best behavior. Now boys and girls go have some fun.

Question – anyone have a good recipe/technique for curing your own bacon? I am going to order up some pork bellies and start making my own bacon for personal use only. I have several recipes from internet searches and have my own – but I was wondering if any of you had one that was really killer and one you would like to share. Thanks

To all the Veterans out there that have given up their blood, sweat and tears for our freedom, I give my humblest of thank yous. So many Veterans have given up so much of their lives and many of given up their ability to live normally like we do. We take for granted so much that we have, and we forget there are fellow human beings that have fought for our right to breath and be free. They have sacrificed and many have paid an unfair price in our defense. Today, we acknowledge everything they stand for, what our future should live up to, and give thanks for all they have done for us. Thank you.

Sorry Hudd, I was away when you posted and I forgot to respond. This was a big topic in the Facebook Chileheads group for a few days. Seen that it is a stretch of the limits of the heat of the pepper, this seed would not be able to be grown or sold as the record holder even if it is declared the Guinness record. It would be like two Olympic athletes, male and female using performance enhancing drugs to produce a record, but if they had offspring, that offspring would not be born with record capable genetics.

You should, it is more active than the HSB was in it’s hey day. Too many pepper pics for my liking, but everyone seems to love it. Also the big thing is people eating peppers on video. There is a new surge for torture video and a lot of people are showing off their game face. Derrick has some funny ones. He sped one up super speed and sounds like Alvin the chipmunk.
