Ultimate Chilehead Comfort Food Showdown Finals

Before we get to this final vote of these two great and delicious comfort foods, I would like to thank each and every person who took the time to come here and cast a vote. It has been a few months since I kicked this thing off, and the response has been great. It was meant to be a fun little survey, and it became something that caught our interest and curiosity. Thanks for being a part of it.

I will cast my vote on Pizza, there is no doubt that is what I often crave more than just about any other kind of food. It is because I grew up in NY, now live in Virginia and my travels across this great country tells me that most areas of this fine country of ours does not know what a really good slice of pizza is. It isn’t a fast food imitation like Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Papa Johns, Little Caesar and I am sure a dozen other robot style doughy replicas dished out to the populace. It is a lot more. I might think NY Style is supreme to the Chicago Deep Dish, and of course it is, but the Chicago version is a great pizza version too. As much as I love chicken wings, there is nothing more pleasing than the perfect cheese slice whether it be Neopolitan, Sicilian, or Chicago Deep Dish. For those that have been deprived of this divine food, then I understand why you would vote for chicken wings.

Chicken Wings have never been defined in this showdown. Some might consider the average buffalo flavored wing as the standard, but I believe we can broaden the scope a little here to include any kind of variety out there. I have had some amazing teriyaki, BBQ, jerk styles over the years, just to name a few. Some with a crunchy skin coating and others bare of anything but the natural skin crispiness. Pick your poison, it really doesn’t matter as long as you consider in your vote that you put the very best offering of comfort chicken wing food imaginable to go against the very best that pizza can offer with or without toppings. This is how I will vote, and I would hope you consider this before you decide. Think back at the best chicken wings or pizza you have ever had and then cast your vote. It is about the Ultimate Comfort Food for you, the chilehead. Not the best of the average of comfort food.
