REVIEW: Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes- Chipotle Heavenly BBQ Sauce
This is a tale of a sad story with a happy ending. A case of a woman chasing the dream for her husband after he passed away before fulfilling it. With his name on the company and the drive to help others in the wake of Gator Ron’s unfortunate demise, his wife Connie took the reins and is moving full steam ahead. You can read more below in our company background spotlight, and see how you can help out with your support for such a great cause. I missed meeting Connie at the DC Metropolitan Entertaining & Food Show back in November, but I was able to make enough of an impression to get some interest back via email from the good people at Gator Ron’s. Through that we setup a review of 4 of their products – this Chipotle BBQ sauce, 2 Bloody Mary Mixes (Original & Chesapeake), and finish with their Original Wing Sauce. For this review we have our team of Ken Alexander, Fiber Joe and our newest reviewer, the man they call Don Lava with his first review for ILIS.
A little about Gator Ron’s…
Company Summary
Ron Griffith had a passion and a talent for developing unique, delicious sauces and mixes. After years of fulfilling requests for his creations from friends and family, Ron recognized the potential for marketing his products, which never came to fruition due to his diagnosis of ALS. Upon his death in 2011 from ALS, his wife, Constance G. Griffith, established Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes, a woman-owned, Benefit Corp (pending) company with the primary objectives of sharing these delicious sauces and mixes with food lovers everywhere, while helping to raise money for ALS research by donating a percentage of all sales to the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.
The leadership team of Gator Ron’s is personally connected with ALS. Each senior executive has lost a spouse, parent, aunt, in-law, and/or friend to ALS, and as a result, each supports this organization and its mission and vision from a position of passion, and each is fully committed to funding research that can help identify treatments, and ultimately a cure, for ALS.
Company Mission
Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces & Mixes has a two-fold mission. A percentage of all profits of Gator Ron’s Zesty Sauces and Mixes will be donated to the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins.

About ALS
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually lead to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. (from http://www.alsa.org/about-als/)
