REVIEW: Smoke Canyon – Smoke Roasted Jalapeño Sauce
2012 Winner of THE HOT PEPPER Awards Best Hot Sauce of the Year, Named Best Product for 2012 on ScottRobertsweb.com and listed on the 2012 best hot sauces of the year on HotSauceDaily.com. It looks like you do not get on a “best of” list of 3 spicy product review websites without having a very good product, and winning the prestigious Hot Pepper Award is one thing, but Best Hot Sauce? Now that says a lot! Jay Abbey aka Jay-Bird, the man behind Smoke Canyon connected with me to setup one of our multiple person reviews to see if our own staff of spicy product lovers would concur with the above assessments. For this review our team consists of Wisconsin’s Heynetboy, Alabama’s Jacob Robertson and John Huber who hails from Buffalo, NY. We have a nice spread of regions, so this will really put this sauce to the test. Before we get to the review, let us learn a little about Smoke Canyon as taken from their website.
Smoke Canyon is a “Small Company with a Big Sauce” nestled in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks.
Our goal is to produce GOURMET pepper sauces and BBQ sauces that the whole family can enjoy. Our signature product, Gourmet Smoke Roasted Jalapeño Sauce, was an immediate success.
We did not set out to copy another pepper sauce that is already on the market. We made the only pepper sauce of its kind with all fresh ingredients; jalapeño peppers, onions, garlic and lemons, with the right spices to create a unique flavor. Then we smoked and roasted the peppers over select Missouri hardwood. The results were the most sought after pepper sauce of its kind.
This sauce was not made by accident. It was made to stand alone, above all other pepper sauces. The flavor had to speak for itself and we are proud to say it has. Maybe that is why the demand for it is growing nationwide. Jay-Bird’s Passion, Promise and Peppers will never change. We will always produce our Gourmet Sauce the way we began.
When you order a bottle of our most sought after pepper sauce with Smoke Canyon and Jay-Bird on the label, you know you have the original and the best.
Jay-Bird wants you to watch for the release of his Jalapeño Pineapple BBQ Sauce along with the Red Gourmet Smoke Roasted Jalapeño Sauce, with more to follow.
From all of us at Smoke Canyon, Jay-Bird and the family, we thank you.

Jay really knocked it out of the park with this one. 3 4.5’s? That’s a sure sign of a quality product. Neither I nor the two other testers give out many very high scores, so this was really impressive.
Thanks for the great reviews. I like to here what people have to say about the flavors they detect when they eat the sauce. The Jalapeños in the sauce are fresh, and then smoke/roasted. It took me a long time to get the process down to where I felt like I hit the home run.
I do appreciate you guys taking the time to post a review on the sauce. Thanks a bunch. I owe ya.
One of my favorite green sauces. I expected nothing less than high scores for this one. Well done Jay-Bird.
I will definitely have to check this one out.
