REVIEWS: Bocas – Hot Sauce

Bocas Hot Sauce is an inclusive hot sauce for everyone to put on everything every time. Inspired from the rich, fresh, and distinctive Caribbean flavors and vibes of Bocas del Toro, Panama our hot sauce gives back through a scholarship fund for continued education scholarships.

Our blend of local inspired ingredients pleases the senses of everyone and every food it touches. It offers a perfect balance of sweet and spice that enhances the flavor of all foods.

Our inspired hot sauce has history. Its origins are traced back to the West-Indian countries of Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados. The earliest immigrants from these countries arrived in Bocas del Toro in the late 1800s to work on the Banana farms of the United Fruit Company. Over the next 60 years thousands more moved to Bocas del Toro quickly turning this island archipelago into a hotbed of inspirational flavors. The most notable and popular amongst them is the ever-present Hot Sauce. Enjoy!

REVIEW: Liao’s Food – Chili Chutney

chilli chutney
The story of my new company (and new sauce) starts with my dad. His story is a textbook American dream. Chinese but born and raised in Kolkata, India, he and his nine siblings grew up in a rather humble economic environment. At age 13 he started working to help the family—in a tannery, as a shoemaker, and then in a restaurant, where he found his passion. He came to America in 1980 with one suitcase, a few dollars, and an incredible work ethic.

REVIEW: Little Bird Curious Confections – Fire Bites

LittleBirdFireBites
We are Corey and Sara Meyer, owners of Little Bird. We make all sorts of strange and wonderfully curious confections in Queens, New York.

Like many great origin stories it all began with Chocolate Covered Orange Peels. Sara made them as a present for Corey. They came out great. So Sara started candying everything in the house. She decided to try candied Jalapeños. Corey told her that she was nuts. Sara didn’t listen, as usual. Good thing this time. They were awesome. Sara brought the candied Jalapeños to work and her co-workers placed orders. Little Bird was hatched.
