Lenny Awards – Best Spicy Products of 2018

CaJohn and Buddah with Lenny Award

Welcome to the 9th Annual Lenny Awards. We are going through major changes this year, and will update you in the days ahead. First and foremost, the Lenny Awards are dedicated to my Dad who passed away on this date, December 19th, 2010. He was a man that would help people whenever he could, just because he could. These awards are a tribute to him, Leonard “Lenny” Goldenberg, and the way he unselfishly lived his life for others, even total strangers. I give these awards out for the best spicy products that I encountered from Last Year’s Lenny Awards through this year, 2018.

Happy Father’s Day with Guapo

Happy Father's Day

I wanted to dedicate something to my Dad being it is Father’s Day. So I went looking in the archives for the videos I made for Guapo, the Authentic Mexican Sauce. I had a lot of fun filming these videos of my friends and family trying Guapo on all kinds of things. These are just the videos I took in New York and New Jersey. This was filmed in June 2010 around Father’s Day, when my Dad who was fighting for his life in his battle against Cancer was actually doing much better after the initial chemotherapy. This was a fun set of videos we did and I wanted to share them with you. There is a small cameo of my Brother Mark, and wanted to give a shout out to him as he just had a birthday yesterday. So happy b-day Bro! I hope you enjoy the 2 videos. Happy Father’s Day to all your Dads out there!

If you are interested in Guapo, or any of their other quality authentic Mexican style sauces check out your local Whole Foods or at their website HERE.

Foods That Scare Me – CaJohns Mongoose

“Foods That Scare Me” is an ongoing series where I attempt to tackle the upper echelon of the extremely fiery. I eat stupid-hot extract sauces and products made with LOTS the naga bhut jolokias and hottest habaneros, right on camera for the comedic benefit of all you at home. Will they make me cry, cough, hiccup, drool and drip snot everywhere? Will I wimp out and run to the freezer for ice cream to extinguish the fire?

For this installment I take on a tablespoon of CaJohns Mongoose hot sauce. Clocking in a couple of million Scoville Heat Units, it’s one of the scorching-est extract sauces out there and definitely one of the hottest CaJohns has to offer.

I have NO glass of milk at the ready, but can I make it through this nine minute video without stopping and running for a dairy product to soothe the burn?

Foods That Scare Me, Part One – Dave’s Dragon Dust

This is a first in a series where I attempt to tackle the upper echelon of the extremely hot…Foods That Scare Me! I’m going to taste and eat stupid-hot extract sauces and products made with LOTS the hottest habaneros and naga bhut jolokias, right on camera for the benefit of all you at home. Will they make me cough and hiccup? Will they cause me to drool and drip snot everywhere (hey, sometimes this job is not a pretty one)? Will I go running for a cup of milk trying to douse the fire? It’s going to be an adventure for you and I to find out what what my limits are.

Today I’m going to taste a teaspoon of Dave’s Dragon Dust on camera. This is one of the best but also one of the hottest crushed chile pepper seasonings available. It’s made with a slew of scorching dried hot peppers such as habaneros and bhut jolokias, as well as milder varieties to give it depth and complexity. Make no mistake about it, I would definitely rank it up there with some multi-million Scoville Heat Unit extract sauces as one of the hottest products I’ve ever consumed.

Will I make it out alive? Watch the video to find out…
