Lenny Awards – Best Spicy Products of 2020

This is the 11th year that I am doing these awards to celebrate the amazing makers of spicy products in this community. It is on this day in 2010 that my Dad, Leonard “Lenny” Goldenberg passed away from Cancer, and rather than mourn him, I celebrate his life and the way he lived to help others. I dedicated the Best of the Year Award to my Mom, Helen Goldenberg, who also passed away from a Cancer, Leukemia in 2018. Last year I dedicated a new award in honor of my friend and ILoveItSpicy reviewer and supporter, Firehead Thomas J Gately who passed away suddenly and with no warning in August 2019. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and lit up a room with his sheer presence. He had a huge impact in my life, and it is my honor to give him a bit of a legacy with this award moving forward. The video, if you choose to watch it, is the one I did Live on Facebook this evening. All the companies that I named in the video have their information listed below, so if you would like to seek their products, I tried to connect you with them. I hope you will reward them too with a purchase.

The Comfort Food Showdown is back!

We did this interactive poll tournament back in 2011-12, and it was a lot of fun. We have 64 comfort foods to be determined via a poll in the main tournament. There will be a qualifying round which will pit Pho vs Fondue to see who gets the last spot. It will be a bit of practice for me, since it has been a very long time since I posted anything here. I just want to work out the kinks before we go to the main tournament votes. I think I will post each round with a corresponding poll each Sunday morning (Eastern Standard Time) before football kicks off. The poll will go 2-3 days depending on whether I close it promptly or not. The results will be seen once the poll is officially closed. So if you comeback you will be able to see how it went. This will be something I will post each week, and let it play out until a champion is declared. Remember to support your favorites or make sure the food you despise does not win. You know what happens when you leave the decision up to others? Anything can happen!

Veteran’s Day Tribute

veterans_day

Imagine leaving behind the things you love – your love of family, friends and life. Imagine losing your Brothers and Sisters that stood along side you to defend the country you love in foreign lands and at home. Unless you have lived it, it is hard to imagine the hardship of being a soldier. Veteran’s Day is more than just tipping our hats to those that wear the uniform. It is a day to recognize those brave men and women that decided it was a nobler deed to give their country something back for their inherited freedom. Some of them have left so much behind in their fight for democracy. Handicapped in more than missing limbs, vision, the ability to function normally, but also mentally damaged in memory and in mind. We should not be so quick to celebrate the day, but the people behind the day. Thanks to all those that have served our country, we owe you our freedom and the lifestyle we have today.

This wonderful tribute video was created from the YouTube page of leahlsternberg
