September is Chilehead Month

Chilehead Monthly September logo

Before we get going on our 2nd newsletter, I wanted to dedicate this month’s newsletter to our good friends Merle and Diana from Hellfire Hot Sauce in the memory of their 2 sons Mike and Jim who were lost in a fatal car crash last Wednesday. I can not imagine how horrible it would be to lose two children on the same day. There are little words you can use to console them at this time as the pain must be unbearable. Yet, I encourage you to leave them your condolences on their company Facebook page HERE and show them the love this community has to give.

When I lost my Dad to Cancer in 2010, I decided to honor him with a tribute called the Lenny Award that I give out on every December 19th to the best products of the year. December 19th is the day he passed away. I chose to celebrate his life, than to mourn his death. It will be a while before Merle and Diana can feel whole again, but I urge them to follow in my footsteps and celebrate their lives with your own special tribute. Something you know they would be proud to be associated with. I am so sorry for your loss, as well as all the people that personally loved your boys. Good people like yourselves should not have to endure such pain and sorrow. You know if you ever need an ear, I am but a call away my friends.

As they say, the show must go on. Welcome to the September newsletter for Chilehead Monthly…

Buddah reviews Texas Creek Products – Fluffy Bunny Hot Sauce

Fluffy Bunny Hot Sauce

Ann Simmons of Texas Creek Products started a product at first as just as a gag to see if she could make a pink hot sauce with a fluffy bunny as the theme. Once she started, not only did she create a hot pink hot sauce and get the support of the chilehead brethren with some funds for the project, but she also made it so it would help Jim Campbell’s StepupForCharity.org. I sent Ann a little something something and ILoveItSpicy because a sponsor, and for my efforts she rewarded me with 2 bottles of Fluffy Bunny hot sauce and an extra gift of her Garlic Habanero hot sauce as well. Very kind of her. Thank you so much Ann. Please check out her awesome photos that she posted on TheHotPepper HERE

So I wanted to help support her efforts and to raise money for these bottles which by the way go up for auction on Ebay tomorrow at 1:09 am PST. Most of you east coasters will be passed. I usually wake up for work at 3am EST, but no work tomorrow, so not even yours truly will be awake for these. It’s an auction, so these auctions will go to the highest bidders. Anyway, about me helping…I asked Ann if I should do a quick review, and if I liked it I would be supportive and post my review video. If I did not, I would stay quiet and no one would be the wiser. Well, I am here posting my review which in itself is a good sign. Indeed it is. If you are a lover of garlic and heat, then I have a review for you. Before we get to the review, here is a little about the charity Ann is donating the proceeds to…

2012 Open Fields, Closed for Me

I am reposting this from a couple of months ago from Jim Campbell is the man behind Open Fields. You can read below and get your invite if you want to make the last minute decision and go. I could not convince my Boss to switch my day off to attend this year. It sucks because I was there the last 2 years and besides cooking my legs by the bonfire it was an awesome time. I had a 10 day trip which included Weekend of Fire, which I will attend next week. I started in VA, went to WoF, then to CaJohn’s Open House followed by a visit with Crazy Uncle Jester, then to Indy which I had I had a great time with the Hudds as they gave me a tour, and finally to Jim’s house and Open Fields there after. A trip I will not soon forget. So I sit here saddened by not being able to go. Read below, look at some of the pics, and you might get an inkling of why people travel from all over the globe to camp out in Indiana and share their love of spicy things. The Brotherhood and Sisterhood is unrivaled. If you are a chilehead, then this is a must attend for you. For those that are attending, have fun for me. I miss you all.
