Lenny Awards – Best Spicy Products of 2016

2013 Best of the Year Lenny Award

Welcome to the 7th Annual Lenny Awards for the best new spicy products. Some of these awards are for the best products our review teams encountered and gave the highest ratings for. Most of them are from my encounters from fiery food events, purchased online or perhaps found along the way in many journeys to and fro. The Lenny Award is named after my Father who died of Cancer on this very day back in 2010. Rather than mourn his death, I am here to celebrate his life and how he would help total strangers in need just because he could. I am trying to do the same with the Lenny Award by given something from my heart to an industry and community that I love. The Lenny is given to my favorite new products and there is no other factor involved in my choice. I don’t get a chance to try everything in due time, so some of these products might be older than 2016 when I first got a chance to try them. I have listed the names of the companies below the video that either received a Lenny Award or got an honorable mention. If you do not want to view that spoiler list, go watch the video and enjoy the moment there.

The Lenny Awards have not been purchased yet, as I will need some of the addresses of the companies I will not see at the NYC Hot Sauce Expo come April. Those companies that attend that great event will have them presented by me in person. Those that do not, will get them mailed directly to whatever address you provide me with. The video is long as I ramble a lot and I try to give each product I mention their due. The addresses below are there for a reason. I hope you will give some thought into purchasing a few of these winners. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Besides, it is the holiday season and some of these fine artisan products might still be on sale.

Thank you for your time and congratulations to all the fiery product makers for making such flavorful and delicious food enhancements.

Lenny Awards – Best Spicy Products of 2014

2011 Lenny Award

Welcome to the 5th Annual Lenny Awards. The Lenny Award is dedicated to my late Father, Leonard Goldenberg who died on the 19th of December in 2010. My Dad gave selflessly to help people whenever he could, and this heart award represents the love I had for him. So each year I give out the Lenny Award in his name to my favorite products and to the best reviewed products for the year. No one helps in the decision making and it is a surprise I reveal to the world with the video below, and none of the product makers have a clue that they are getting this accolade.

Hey Chilehead, Do you like hot sauce?

iBurn 2014 Holiday purchase

I mean, do you really like hot sauce. Are the kind of Chilehead that buys it or makes your own. Perhaps both. Me? Well, I enjoy tasting the creations of others. I have been lucky over the years to have attending many shows and have brought home so many wonderful tasty spicy things. Most people can’t do that. Most Chileheads I am afraid have only their local supermarket and/or grocer to satisfy their thirst for fiery fun. They can not travel to spicy food shows and do not have one close enough to their home to ride to and back. So unless they are satisfied with Frank’s, Tabasco, Louisiana hot sauces, Cholula, etc, they live the life not knowing how many craftsmen and women have creating flavors with heat that would blow their chile pepper loving mind. It is really a shame.

So again I ask, but more specifically, do you like hot sauce enough to spend a little extra for something original and delicious? If it is no, then no reason to read on. I will just bore you more than I usually do with my endless rants about supporting your Mom & Pop Shoppe hot sauce makers. Yet, if you answered yes to my question. You must read on because the chilehead community is about to take a huge blow to these Mom & Pop Shoppe businesses and you might just be the last hope on this planet to let the flame keep on burning. Now, let me get to more specifics before I dive right into what I am alluding to. If I could get you the convenience of a hot sauce store in your neighborhood, the benefit of going to a fiery festival without the cost of admission and have it all delivered to your porch without any extra cost to you, would you be interested? Come on Buddah, stop with your questions and get to your point. Wait folks there is more…

Sure it is a long video, but there is only 1 Lenny Award ceremony and this is it. Please help support their recognition here today with a little purchase which will go a long way.

2012 Houston Hot Sauce Festival – Special Award Presentations

We finally got to give Shauna our award for winning the 2012 Feast Your Eyes on This Spicy Cooking Challenge as she was at the Houston Hot Sauce Festival to collect a couple of her prizes. One being a free booth at the festival, and the other our ginormous award. Next year she will be able to collect her free both at the NOLA Hot Sauce Show now renamed as Chile Pepper Extravaganza! Pictured with Shauna above is the man behind the show and Chile Pepper Magazine, Sir McMillan. On Shauna’s other side is show promoter extraordinaire for this Houston spicy festival, Carol Bourge. Congrats to Shauna once again for her victory.

Along with Shauna’s award presentation, I also awarded 2 more people for a Lenny Award for Contributions in the Chile Community. Last year I awarded the very 1st special awards to CaJohn Hard and Bwana Bret Vitek. For those of you that do not know, the Lenny is named after my dearly departed Dad, Leonard “Lenny” Goldenberg who passed away 12/19/10. To honor him and all the selfless things he did for others, I named the award for him. Lenny Awards are also given out in December for best spicy products of the year. So, who received the next 2 Contribution Lenny Awards? You will have to watch and find out. I will say they are more than deserving and have given much to make this chile community better. Without their contributions, our community would not be the same.
