NYC Hot Sauce Expo: Volcanic Peppers’ Fiery Pizza Challenge (featuring Grimaldi’s Pizzeria)

Fiery Pizza Trophy 2 angles

Quite a long weekend for me and my travels to and fro the sho. I got a little sunburned, but it was well worth the price of admission. THE NYC Hot Sauce Expo was larger than life and it was my extreme honor to sponsor the very first ever spicy pizza eating contest with Tim Bader of Volcanic Peppers and the legendary Grimaldi’s Pizzeria of Brooklyn. A big thanks to Steve Seabury of High River Sauces to allow us to bring this special event to the good people of NY. Lastly a HUGE thank you goes out to Steven “The Murph” Murphy of Murph’s Famous Bloody Mary Mix who secured me Grimaldi’s with his calling on favors and twisting of arms. You are the man Murph, I owe you one now.

REVIEW: The Murph’s Famous Bloody Mary Mix – PART 2

Murph's Famous

In January we setup The Murph’s Famous Bloody Mary Mix for review with 3 reviewers, but none of them were hardcore lover’s of that style of drink mix. Yet despite that, the reviews were very positive for this product. You can check those reviews out HERE and learn a little background about this Murph guy. It is rather an entertaining story about an entertaining man who makes one great Bloody Mary Mix. So why are we back with another set of 3 reviewers? Well, The Murph wanted to ask 3 Bloody Mary fans what they thought since they had something to compare it to unlike our inexperienced team from the first review. So we put that team together. For this review we have Jerret Ulmer, John & Julia Huber, and The Schobergs. I think they all get together in the theme for our website, and it is that they all love it spicy. Let us get right to those new reviews then…

REVIEW: The Murph’s Famous Bloody Mary Mix

Murph's Famous

I have been doing reviews for 5 plus years now, and every now and then you run across a “character” that you know will be someone you will want to meet sometime in the future. You get that feeling from your first contact that you are dealing with a nice guy with a good sense of humor. Enter The Murph, Stephen “The Murph” Murphy. A Long Islander much like myself, a Met fan much like myself, so we all ready had much in common to talk about through our email exchanges. I recognized his bottles from Peppers of Rehoboth, DE, but I had also seen the bottle at a local Italian Market called Iavarone in the town I grew up in- Wantagh, NY. I go to the grocery store all the time, and every single time I see The Murph Famous Bloody Mary Mix I think of my beloved NY Mets. The Mets’ TV and radio announcers I grew up with as a kid were Ralph Kiner and Bob Murphy. While the name The Murph doesn’t necessarily make me think of Bob Murphy, the picture of Stephen on the bottle reminds of a young Ralph Kiner. I told him this and he got a chuckle out of it.
