Feast Your Eyes on This Spicy Challenge Winner
I would like to thank all the talented spicy product makers for competing in our first ever cooking contest. A big thanks for putting your best foot forward and dealing with all the flaws of making videos and cooking under pressure. I know how much time and money for food you put into each round. It was fun to watch, and often at times your mouth-watering meals inspired us to try your recipes. You gave it your all, and I so much appreciate that. I hope all the time we put into these challenges was worth it to you in the end for your websites. Feel free to use any of your videos embed codes for that purpose. A tremendous thanks and congrats to both Johnny of Heartbreaking Dawns and Clement of Cajun Heat to reach this point. You guys were big time cooks and entertained with your talented takes on spicy food.
A huge thanks to all of my sponsors. To Jungle Jim’s Weekend of Fire Show and NOLA Hot Sauce & Gourmet Food Show, who had my back from the beginning when I first proposed the idea. Specifically to Debby Hartinger and Tracy Carter who made it possible. Without you both, this contest would never have seen the light of day. You both got me the approval from your respective shows to get the awesome prizes that we are about to reward. Then Tracy, you took some more money out of your pocket and added to the 2nd and 3rd place prizes. You didn’t have to do it, but this is why you have so many friends, your kind heart. You deserve the world my friend, thanks. Please check out his company, JACS Tailgaters for awesome award winning spicy products.
Also, to Jim Duffy of Refining Fire Chiles for jumping up to recognize that these competitors needed a 2nd and 3rd place prize, and stepping up to the plate and delivering one. I thank you so much, and I am glad we have become close friends over the past 6+ months. Your friendship has meant a lot. Even if I have to get a hearing aid now. lol
Then to our other weekly sponsors. To Chad Lowcock of Race City Sauce Works who gave us 2 sponsored prize rounds, I thank you so much. To Adam Fehr of Endorphin Farms and Doug Spiros of PeppersandMore.com who both gave their support, I really appreciate your sponsorships gentlemen, thank you. It means a lot when you get support like these guys gave me.
Also, to CaJohn who not only gave his time and his celebrity, but his sage advice and wisdom to me behind the scenes whenever I asked or didn’t ask for that matter. I listened, learned and grew from his teachings and experience. He truly is a friend that I can count on, and knows what to say to me when I need the encouragement. Thank you John.
Also a big thanks to Firehead Thomas who not only gave time in a very busy relocation period in his life, but also donated $50 to the winner of the 6th Round. Thanks Thomas and the lovely Annabelle for their thoughtful addition to the contest.
To all those that came by and watched, voted and/or commented, I appreciate your presence. Thank you for your support, and I hope you will continue to come back here and see what we have to offer. You will see some new reviewers, new style of salsa reviews and a battle arena that will pit two products against one another, all coming sooner or later. We will see if there is interest in having another Feast Your Eyes on This Spicy Cooking Challenge. We will try and make it bigger and better next go around. We will be filming at shows like NOLA and Weekend of Fire, and we will show you behind the scenes what you might be missing. We will bring you cooking demos, recipes and the return of the Spicy Minute. So keep your eyes peeled, and add our RSS feed to stay in touch with the latest on ILIS.
Now to the winner. Drum roll please…
The video is private…
Fixed. Sorry.
Congratulations Clement!
Congratulations to Clement & Johnny! Both of you were so good and the food, oh my goodness! I can’t wait to try some of the recipes.
I’m assuming that Heartbreaking Dawn is coming to the Weekend of Fire and knowing that Cajun Heat will be there, I really want to get your cooking videos on our website. I have some of Johnny’s but I can use the rest.
That goes for anyone else in the contest who will be at the Weekend of Fire. We’re glad to promote you and your products.
Congrats, Clement! Both of you guys are winners. But, I guess since this is a contest, there can only be one. It would have been hard for me to choose a winner.
Once again, CONGRATS Clement.
We will definitely be at Weekend of Fire (please send me the vendor packet).. Remember we got a Brownie Eating Contest to set up!
Congrats to both of you this was truly a blast to be a part of.
Clement drop me a line so I can get you set up for the show.
Hope to see you at NOLA too.
Thanks Johnny, I’ll retire the voodoo doll now. This was truly a lot of fun. Do we let the girls compete now or let them mud wrestle?
Mud wrestle :photographer:
Congrats Clement and Johnny! Great videos both of you. :_toastbeer:
Congrats Clement & Johnny! Clement I’ll see you for sure at the NOLA show! Johnny I hope to see you there too, (c’mon it’s the Big Easy!)lol.
Congrats Clement, I really enjoyed this contest and cant wait for the next one.
Congrats Clement! Both you and Johnny did kickass jobs. 🙂
Congrats to Clement for winning it all! Congrats to all of the participants. Most of all, congrats to Buddah for hanging in there, you did a great job!
Thanks bud. I couldn’t do it without all the great support. :_toastbeer:
Great job Clement! Ordered some of your product. It’s already on the way! Thanks! Thanks Al for promoting me as a sponsor. I still have a few thousand chile plants left to sell :splode:
Added a few extras I hope you enjoy as well!
Got it today! That was fast!
Opened up the box and saw the extras you gave me. I will share with friends to hopefully bring you more biz. And I don’t forget things like this so expect some fresh chiles from me come harvest time. Thanks again Clement :hungry:
First off, I want to apologize to Al and the rest of y’all for so quickly and silently dissappearing. These past weeks I’ve been serving as personal chef and valet to Chuck Norris during a recent visit to a country who’s name sounds something like “Baby Back-istan”. Contractually, I can’t to into detail, but let me just say “mission accomplished” and I’ve had my share of lamb.
Seriously, what happened was a massively moronoic technical failure at a point where I was out of time to fix things. I’m a bit of an idiot at times, and tend to push things right up to the last minute where I’ve no choice but to either make it work, or crash and burn. That caught up with me this time and when I crashed, I couldn’t recover. Yes, I could have reshot the trashed video and turned in late, but my schedule that week was going to make doing that before midweek next to impossible, and I just didn’t see a way to make it work.
That said, this contest has been a bloody blast, and I enjoyed every minute of it. You guys are a frighteningly creative (the frightening part is for the fish dessert) group. I look forward to seeing y’all ’round the shows, and can’t wait for the next challenge.
Congratulations, you guys! I’ll be back!
Great news! A friend rearranged his schedule so I will now be able to attend the NOLA show!
Awesome news, but you were contractually obligated. 😈
Hey Clement! I tried your re-formulated spicy wing sauce tonight. It had great heat and I loved the flavor. Will be buying it again!
