UCCFS: Onion Rings vs Baked Beans Round 1

This contest is kind of like the best of the side courses meeting each other. Who doesn’t love a nice portion of onion rings and some good BBQ baked beans? You will have a hard time finding two onion rings that taste the same from restaurant to restaurant or kitchen to kitchen. Some are seasoned, beer battered, thick to thin, crunchy to soft, baked to fried, so many different ways to prepare. Slip it into your burger in the way of the onion tangle, on the table in a block they call the onion loaf or the 90’s sensation- the blooming onion.

Then there is the baked beans, and you can go so many ways with them as well. The sauce can be sweet, bold, spicy, savory, and grilled with flavor, with different beans in each kettle, pot or cauldron. Add some bacon, sausage or even sliced hot dogs into the mix for a bonus bite. You can see in the canned goods aisle of your local mart how many different styles they have, but there is nothing like a side order with your ribs or other forms of barbecue.

Onion Rings and BBQ sauce? Odd. I may have to try that one.

I like dipping onion rings in a cheese sauce, such as nacho cheese.

I just ordered Melinda’s Habanero Ketchup! It should be here any day now. I’m glad to hear it’s good.
