Feast Your Eyes on This Spicy Cooking Challenge 2012: Round 1

Welcome back to another year of spicy cooking recipe challenges. I would like to thank our sponsors for their contributions and prizes. For the 1st place prize The Houston Hot Sauce Show is giving a free 12′ x 12′ booth valued at $490. Please click on their web banner to the left for details. The NOLA Hot Sauce & Gourmet Show is also pledging a free booth as they did last year. I would like to thank Tracy Carter for his contribution once again in making this happen. The dates for this show will be announced soon. We also have Chad Lowcock from Race City Sauce Works back, but with multi-sponsorship this time around. He has pledged $100 for the runner-up, plus a 2nd round $50 gift card which we will discuss next week.

Plus, a huge thanks goes out to Adam Fehr of Endorphin Farms for his contribution of the special challenge round that was done before this all got started. We will discuss such things in the video. Endorphin Farms is a fiery products co-packer from Florida that is an FDA Approved facility. They do not bottle their own product which is different from many co-packers in the industry. They specialize in sauce manufacturing and recipe development. Please check out their frequently asked questions page to satisfy your curiosity about co-packing with Endorphin Farms: CLICK ME

This week’s special sponsor is our returning 2011 Feast Your Eyes on This Spicy Cooking Champ, Clement Bourg from Cajun Heat. He has pledged a $50 money card to the winner of round 1. If you have not been to www.CajunHeat.com, then you need to now since Clement is doing a special Feast Your Eyes on This discount. Just enter the coupon code: ILIS at checkout to get 25% off your purchase. You will see some of the best Cajun products which include traditional hot sauce in 3 different heat levels, mustard, wing sauce, the infamous Voodoo Ash rub/seasoning, and coming soon the new Cajun BBQ sauce.

Very tight schedule! I know video editing took the majority of time allowed; seems this schedule is cutting a day or two out of what we had last year.

Don’t forget proper lighting, CaJohn LOVES music added to your videos and Firehead needs to be able to hear you….potato, potato, potato….

    Best of luck!

I wanted a consistent schedule in place so everyone knows when the videos will be posted. Shorten schedule won’t have much impact because most of the cooking will be on Saturday.

How on Sat when the vids are due on Sat? It took me sometimes a whole day just to edit.

Maybe it is why you won. I think most were done at last day. Submitted 5 before midnight.

I’m another one that LOVES loud music!

Seriously, contestants, your voice needs to be able to be heard LOUD and CLEAR. If you absolutely insist on having background music, please turn it down REALLY low.

The pressure is on in the vocal area. Scott if I was doing it this year I would hire you to do a Kick Ass Voice Over for my videos.

Music makes the videos unavailable to ipad users, youtube has a problem with it, copywrite violations or something. Al knows what it is…

Boiled seafood is more than fine with me, so Fireheads vote against it is negated my mine for it!!!

Let the judges take note that Shauna is a Packers’ fan, and 1 point shall be deducted in the rules criteria of each round. She will probably lose a few points naturally in creativity too. Just sayin’.

I am very happy how the chili turned out.all the things i did to it is not the traditional way i make it. I like doing something different but it took such along time to make. we ate it last night for dinner. very spicy but such good flavor that we all kept eating more.
