The Day Steve “The Machine” Smallwood made History

We got a private interview with The Machine before and after his pepper eating world records. The first interview was held in the supply closet at the back of Peppers. Ken Alexander started the interview, but we also got some assistance from John Scrovak of EatMoreHeat and myself. We wanted to see what Steve’s mindset was mere minutes before he took center stage. The second interview was held during the Blogger’s Round Table. Around the interview table we had Brian and Marilyn Meagher from www.HotSauceWeekly.com, Scott Roberts from www.ScottRobertsweb.com, Ken Alexander from ILIS and his new website www.FieryWorld.com, plus Firehead Thomas and myself from ILIS as well.

Between the 2 interviews, I sandwiched the 2 world record moments. First the ghost pepper, then the Trinidad Scorpion. If you have not seen the monumental achievements, then you need to check it out. I got gooseflesh when the crowd started to chant. Something that I will not soon forget.

Between playing a mean guitar intro and eating some mean peppers, Steve truly earned that “Machine” nickname. Much proud of ya, man!
