Which Company makes the best Salsa?

In cooperation with promoter extraordinaire Carol Borge & the Houston Hot Sauce Show, ILoveItSpicy is trying to find out who makes the best salsa in the land. While doing so we are also raising money for the Snowdrop Foundation whose mission statement is thus:

“Snowdrop Foundation is dedicated to assisting patients and families at Texas Children’s Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors.”

If you think you have the best professional jar of salsa (sorry no fresh salsa), and want to get a trophy that says so, then we urge you to enter your salsa into our contest which will take place on the first of the two day Houston Hot Sauce Show on September 15, 2012. This is how it will work:

1- Professional labeled jarred products are the only salsa that will be eligible, no amateur or fresh salsa;
2- 2 jars per entry must be submitted;
3- All entries must pay $5/salsa entry, payable to the Snowdrop Foundation. 100% of the proceeds raised will go to the Snowdrop Foundation. We would appreciate additional donations since this all for charity, but it is not required;
4- Companies do not have to attend the Houston Hot Sauce Show to be eligible, but entries must be received by September 1st;
5- Any vendors attending the event can submit their entry the day of the contest, but they must alert us to their intentions prior to September 1st to be eligible;
6- Judges will be hand selected by ILoveItSpicy, and will use the following criteria to rate each salsa:
a) Flavor/Taste
b) Aroma
c) Appearance
d) Addictability
e) Overall
7- The Best Salsa Winner will be announced at the show and a trophy will be awarded to them, as well as a medal for 2nd and 3rd place finish as well.
8- Contact me at Bu****@IL**********.com or Al******@ya***.com for mailing info.
9- Damage in mailing is not the responsibility of ILoveItSpicy nor the Houston Hot Sauce Show. We will grant a little extra time for those entries that fall victim to mailing damage as long as original mailing is received by the September 1st deadline.
10- All entries must accept that their salsa might be used in the marketing before, during and after the Houston Hot Sauce Show.

    Buddah:

    Thanks for letting me know. I will not be at the Houston Hot Sauce Festival, however, it is always a favorite and Carol does a wonderful job of promoting her sponsors and causes. I will enter my Chuck Evans’ MONTEZUMA Brand: Smokey Chipotle Lime & Garlic Salsa (Weekend of Fire 1st Salsa Contest People’s Choice Winner, 2007 Chipotle Salsa Golden Chile Winner), Triple XXX Habanero Salsa, Smokey Chipotle Raspberry Lime Salsa, Tangy Lime & Garlic Salsa, and Smokey Chipotle Garlic Salsa. I did not see the categories listed-I must have missed it-is there going to be a salsa verde category? Thank you.

    It is all 1 category Chuck. Best salsa, whether it be fruit based, traditional, super spicy, verde, etc. I am glad to see the XXX one in it. I am curious to see how it stacks up against all the others. Do not forget to read the rules, and to email me when you are ready to send. Thanks as always.

    Thanks for being a part of it. I wish we had a sliced jalapeno category. I just love yours so much. Just thinking about it makes me want to get me some nachos now. Also congrats on being the first ghost pepper product out in the mass market. At least I have not seen anyone else make it to Target and certain grocery chains as yours has. It makes a chilehead happy that when one breaks through we all benefit from it. 😀

    Gunther’s Gourmet is always up for a challenge. I think last year we paid $10.00 per entry – every little bit extra helps. Not looking to break anyone’s bank – but what other of you salsa producers will join me in helping out a great cause and supporting our friends Carol and Buddah – by adding a few extra bucks to the cause?

    Yup. lol It was $5 btw. We will do it again, maybe with a tweak to get black bean and corn in some how. Not sure how to do that without it costing me too much.
