2015 Louisiana Hot Sauce Expo Preview
Sure the name of this event is called the Louisiana Hot Sauce Expo, but it is actually 3 shows in 1. Imagine buying 1 show and getting 2 shows for free. Sounds like a deal and a 1/2 at the general admission price of $7 for 1 day or $10 for 2 days. Tickets can be purchased in advance at those discounted prices HERE. So what 3 events are you getting for your ticket?
The 2015 Louisiana Hot Sauce Expo is a celebration of Hot Sauce & Spicy food. Learning from the heat, humidity and downpours last year, the show has been brought indoors and it is the home of the Ragin’ Cajuns. The Expo is scheduled to be held at the Blackham Coliseum, Lafayette, LA. July 18-19, 2015 from 10am-6pm each day. Inside the air-conditioned Coliseum will be the 2nd Annual Louisiana Hot Sauce Expo with 62 Hot and Spicy Vendors showcasing their wares and 6 Cooking demos a day featuring some local chefs as well as Johnny McLaughlin of Heartbreaking Dawns, featured on Chopped & CutThroat Kitchen and Owner of Heart Breaking Dawns Hot Sauce, and Cindy Reed Wilkins of Cin Chili, a Two Time International Chili Champ and Seen on Throw Down w/ Bobby Flay.
The Vendor’s List is down the page, but you will see some award winning companies and get to sample at their booths. While there are many local representatives showing off their wares, their are many companies that are traveling quite the distance to attend this show. A quick look at the list and you will see Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas just to name a few other states representing. If you like to spice up your food, and Louisiana Hot Sauce is just not giving you the burn that you crave anymore, then you need to get on your horse, unicycle or double decker bus and head to Lafayette to find out what the fuss is all about.
At the back of the Coliseum you will see the Arts & Crafts Barn which is an Arts and Craft Exhibition and Sale with a Best of Show prize of $500. Over 50 local Artisans will be showcasing and selling their hand made art. You can see the vendor’s list by clicking HERE.
On the outside of Blackham Coliseum will be the Cajun BBQ Bash. The Cajun BBQ Bash is a Barbecue Competitors Alliance (BCA) sanctioned competition of who the best BBQer is in Acadiana. Cooks will have to bbq a half chicken and/or spare ribs while Kid Qers will be cooking Chicken Thighs. Besides winning a beautifully hand crafted trophy by the same Gentlemen who makes the World Hot Sauce Award Trophies winners from First thru Seventh will win cash awards ($500 for first down to $50 for seventh) with the First place Kid Qer also winning cash ($250).
