Hot & Spicy Products to Enjoy During the Holidays!
Hello fellow chileheads and lovers of all things hot & spicy! In last month’s Chilehead Newsletter Al told us about a couple of products he recommends during the holidays. This month I thought it would be the perfect time to share a few products I’ve discovered recently that would be great to have around during the holidays. These are the type of products that work equally well with your holiday dishes including meats, main dishes, and desserts as well.
Fat Cat Foods – Cranberry Habanero Relish
Fat Cat Gourmet Foods based in Orlando, Florida is the brainchild of husband and wife, Eyal Goldshmid and Deborah Moskowitz. Deborah loves gardening and Eyal (pronounced “Ale,” like the beer) loves cooking and has been making homemade condiments for years. Every year, when Deborah’s garden reaches harvest time, Eyal snatches up what he can and starts cooking. Fat Cat was one of the very first companies that sent me products to review, and they really do have something for everyone!
Their “Cranberry Habanero Relish” was a big hit with my family on Thanksgiving! This was just the perfect spicy condiment to have with our turkey and stuffing. This unique relish mixes the comforting holiday flavors of tangy cranberries and the citrus notes of oranges with just a little punch of orange habaneros, which creates a fun spin on a classic American condiment. It was absolutely delicious on leftover turkey sandwiches, and was just heavenly on top of a slice of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory!

Jersey Barnfire Hot Sauce – Apples & Spices
If you are looking for Sweet, Deep, FLAVORFUL Heat, then Jersey Barnfire Hot Sauce has something for you! Co-founders Austin D’Almeida and John Sauchelli are all about anything hot, spicy and flavorful. They are just two old friends from New Jersey who came together one day in front of a chile pepper garden and decided to make some hot sauce. Jersey Barnfire Hot Sauce was born!
Their new “Apples & Spice” hot sauce was another one that my family kept reaching for on Thanksgiving. This sauce is made with local apples from Windy Brow Farms in New Jersey, then blended with Yellow 7-Pot Primo peppers that create a nice warmth to spice up all of your holiday dishes. This was delicious on sliced turkey as well as for dessert. I just had to try it on a slice of pumpkin pie. Yes, it worked!

I have to admit…this salsa tastes just like “apple pie” and is so addictively good I consumed the jar in one sitting!

And finally, the holiday season would just not be complete without experiencing the delicious, award-winning artisan chocolates and confections from Madison Chocolatiers West! My good friends Chef Ricky Sanders and Renee Rohrbach have been creating delicious and gorgeous looking products for many years now. Their love and passion for chocolate turned into a desire to create products others were not making.
