The Comfort Food Showdown: Pho vs Fondue

Before we begin the tournament to crown the all time comfort food, at least for 2018-2019, we will have a qualification round.  The winner will take the #16 slot vs #1 slot held by Pizza.  Sure that might seem like a mountain-like task for these 2 culinary icons, but only time will tell how these foods fare in this battle.

First, we have the Vietnamese soup known as Pho, (pronounced Fah).  When you buy Pho, you will have numerous protein and vegetable choices to be added to the flavorable broth.  So, while it is a flexible dish, it is a warm tradition that does not often stray from the path of ingredients.  Then we have fondue.  While I show a cheese fondue, fondue can be both sweet and savory- an appetizer, main course and/or dessert.  Chocolate Fondue and Cheese are the 2 most well known, while the main course of fondue is often flavored oil with various seasonings which you dip raw food into a hot pot.  There are so many different uncooked proteins like seafood, meats, poultry you can try, as well as raw vegetables.  While cooking the seasoned oil will flavor the food, so each morsel will carry the seasoning into each bite.

This could be a tough round or the thought of chocolate fondue might end it quickly.  All depends on you, our voters.  Who will move into the Comfort Food Showdown tournament?  The first round will kick off sometime in the next few days once this battle is settled and we have a winner.
