REVIEW: Voodoo Chile – Porcus Infernum

porcus infernum
According to our customers, this is the world’s BEST bacon hot sauce, bar none!

We certainly don’t expect you to simply take our word for it, nor that of our rabid fans. Try some for yourself and if you don’t like it, then stuff it in a box, ship it back, and we will refund your original purchase AND the return shipping; NO questions asked. (1)

We at Voodoo Chile Sauces & Salsa have been making sauces, marinades and salsa since the 1980’s but it wasn’t until the summer of 2010 that our head sauceologist, Voodoo, had an encounter that ignited his inner mad scientist into action, and for two long years (and countless gallons of failed attempts discarded) he obsessed over the challenge to craft a sauce worthy of the name synonymous with the beloved candy of the gods … bacon!

REVIEW: Scotty O’Hotty – Habanero Sauce

scotty o hotty

This is our second Scotty O’Hotty hot sauce we are reviewing. The first was their ghost sauce, and it received some really good marks. Out of 5 flaming hearts, every reviewer gave it a 4 1/2 flaming heart rating. One of the best scores a hot sauce has ever received on ILoveItSpicy. You can see those video reviews HERE. Since it is St. Patrick’s Day today, and we could not do any better than have a product named O’Hotty to review for this great Irish holiday. Will this habanero hot sauce do as well as the ghost pepper version. You will have to find out for yourselves.

Our team of hot sauce aficionados for this review are the man only known as “G”, Steve Smith of 2Hot2Eat.com, and Tennessee’s own Dale Gilbert.

REVIEW: Scotty O’Hotty – The Ghost Sauce

The Ghost Sauce

Many good things came from the Zestfest Midwest Show despite the lack of attendance. You can’t take away all the great vendors that were there, and one newbie to our chilehead community is one Scotty O’Hotty. I must note that he had 2 sauces for us to try, and the habanero blend won people’s choice award for overall best hot sauce at the show beating out a lot of quality sauces. Not bad for a newbie. For those that love the taste of peppers will love their 2 hot sauces we are reviewing. We will be reviewing the habanero one next. They also sell a milder version as well.

Scotty O’Hotty is Scott Owens, pictured below with his lovely wife Suzi. Today is Scott’s birthday, so I want to wish him a very very happy birthday with our first review. I think he will like our reviewer team’s take on his ghost pepper hot sauce. I love that he called it just “The Ghost Sauce”. Perhaps it is marketing genius, not mentioning that it is a hot sauce, and perhaps lovers of spooky things and haunted houses might buy them some. One never knows! You can read a little more about Scotty O’Hotty below the picture, then our review team does that thing. Our squad of hot sauce lovers for this review is Steve Smith of 2Hot2Eat.com, Dale Gilbert and the man only known as “G”.

REVIEW: Knox’s Gourmet Sauce – Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce

Knox Gourmet Honey Chipotle BBQ Sauce

We have a BBQ sauce maker trying to get his love of BBQ and mix it with his New Orleans background and bring it to California where he believes there is a calling for a really good BBQ sauce with a little kick. Introducing Michael Knox to our spicy community and to all BBQ lovers out there. Michael wanted us to give him some feedback ILIS style and we aim to please. Our review team consists of the one and only G from VA, New Mexico’s favorite salsa maker, Xero, and our last review with Mike & Jen, the McDermott’s. They will be trying to expand their business this year and need all the free time they can get. We at ILIS appreciate their time and effort and wish them much success in the future with www.ChiliGrower.com and their chile pepper seed company. Before we get to the review, let us learn a little more about Michael Knox.

REVIEW: Heartbreaking Dawn’s 1542 Chocolate Habanero Sauce

This is our last of 2 reviews for Heartbreaking Dawns. We reviewed their Strawberry Trail Preserves
on Black Friday to get everybody a chance to capitalize on the big sale they had going on. The preserves got a great review with ratings of 4,4, and 4 1/2 from our review team of Heynetboy, G and John Huber. Will they be as enamored with their 1542 Chocolate Habanero hot sauce? Only time will tell. I would like to thank owner and spicy culinary creator Johnny McLaughlin for allowing us to review his love and joy. I wish him nothing but the best for the near future, and with a baby on the way with his lovely wife Nicole, I hope the blessings are doubly wonderful. Now on with the review…

REVIEW: Heartbreaking Dawns – Strawberry Trail Preserves

With Black Friday here I wanted to put up a review for my friend Johnny McLaughlin and to share this review with my audience because I personally think this is one of the better preserves out there to be had. In 2010, I created the Lenny Awards in memory of my departed Father and to reward best products of the year. I presented Heartbreaking Dawns(HBD), one for their Fiery Trail Preserves, presently my favorite product they make. Later Johnny followed that up with a very tasty datil pepper and mango preserve. To complete the trio he has introduced this strawberry one. This preserve is mixed with the world’s hottest pepper, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, but it is a good mix that will bring out the flavor of the pepper and not too much of the heat you would expect. It is an enjoyable burn with a flavorful mix of fruit (strawberries and cranberries) that you will come back to again and again.

REVIEW: 7 Deadly Zings – Fierce Bitch

Just when you thought we were all out of the Zings, we got the Mother of All Zings (as stated on the bottle), the Fierce Bitch. This is the last of the hot sauce line that was made to play off the 7 Deadly Sins. We had some bumps in the road with a few of these reviews, but overall we had some pretty good results. This Puerto Rican company really brought some interesting flavor profiles. I want to wish the good people at Flavor Merchants, LLC the best of luck in the future for their product line. Thank you for letting us highlight your product.

REVIEW: 7 Deadly Zings – Passionate Lust

7 Deadly Zings now in it’s 7th review, but not the last because we will have the Mother of All Zings next week to wrap up these Puerto Rican reviews for the Flavor Merchants, LLC. With each Deadly Zing, we get an increased heat level. Nothing too hot for our review team just yet, but I assure you from past experience the Mother of All Zings packs a wallop.
