REVIEW: The Jerky Connection – The Reaper Beef Jerky

The Reaper

Fear the reaper has a new meaning, and it involves beef jerky. So far in the 4 previous beef jerky reviews for The Jerky Connection, we have had a common theme with our team in their feedback, and that this beef jerky has awesome texture. There are a lot of jerky out that that are too chewy or disintegrates like cotton candy when it meets saliva. It is hard to get the right balance of chewiness along with flavor. Of course, we also want it spicy. The Jerky Connection looks to be delivering all 3 with The Reaper. Using the Carolina Reaper’s heat, they also have other chile peppers featuring Chipotle, Cayenne, Ghost Pepper, Trinidad Scorpion, and 7 Pot peppers added in generous proportions. That is a lot of heat coming for you, so indeed fear this jerky. Will our review team be up for the task? You can also find out for yourselves if you are headed to the Houston Hot Sauce Festival. They will be in attendance this year at the show. So look for them and tell them you saw their reviews here on ILIS.

REVIEW: The Jerky Connection – World Destruction Beef Jerky

This is our 4th of 5 beef jerky reviews for The Jerky Connection. We have steadily increased the heat on our reviewers, and after reading about this beef jerky on their website, I think we jumped quite a few notches from the previous Hillbilly Hangover. Here is what the website says about World Destruction:

“So here we are…the End is upon us! We figure if the world is going to end, you may as well numb your taste buds first with some scorching jerky.
A blend of Sriracha, Garlic, and Trinidad Scorpion, and the Carolina Reaper will mercifully numb the taste buds in this killer jerky, and rock your mouth’s world. A tasty marinade coupled with some destructive heat will make this jerky one of your favorite snacks to await the dreaded cosmic collision!
If it is going to happen, you may as well eat some jerky first!”

This one seems to be for the chilehead who wants to burn his face off. Before we get to see what happens to our poor review team – Steve “The Machine” Smallwood, Heynetboy & Dale Gilbert – feel free to browse the previous reviews to see why The Jerky Connection has won so many beef jerky awards across the industry.

REVIEW: The Jerky Connection – Hillbilly Hangover Beef Jerky

hangover

We are moving onto our 3rd review out of 5 for The Jerky Connection. The first 2 got outstanding reviews, so I am counting on some more excellent reviews for this award winning beef jerky company. We keep hearing about how good the texture is with their beef jerky from all the reviewers. Once you can obtain that perfect jerky bite, then you just have to win over with the flavor, but half the battle is all ready won. REVIEW: The Jerky Connection – Insanity Beef Jerky

Insanity-Beef-Jerky1

This is our 2nd of 5 spicy beef jerky reviews for The Jerky Connection. In our first review, we did their Teriyaki Habanero Beef Jerky. Scoring two 4’s and one 4 1/2 out of a possible 5 flaming hearts in the reviews, this beef jerky is off to a great start. The only issue the reviewers had with the jerky was that it could have been a bit hotter. The Jerky Connection does aim to please, and they have Armageddon Teriyaki Beef Jerky that amps up the habanero version with some red savina pepper heat added. As for this Insanity Beef Jerky review, I do not think with all the wacky jerky names they sell on their website, that this Insanity is all but sane in comparison. The marinade to make this one consists of: Crushed red pepper, crushed black pepper, cayenne, habañero, Thai, and Chipotle. Compared to some of the other chiles they use, this should be a cake walk for our review team which consists of Steve “The Machine” Smallwood, Heynetboy, and Dale Gilbert.

REVIEW: The Jerky Connection – Teriyaki Habanero Beef Jerky

Teriyaki-Habanero-Beef-Jerky

I am not too fond of jerky reviews because I am not allowed to eat any jerky because of my stomach surgery. So watching these videos and seeing the jerky makes me so so sad. It is torture I tell ya! Plus now I am on a low carb diet, and beef jerky would be something I could normally eat on such a diet. Double sadness for me. Beyond all my personal woes, I am happy to present some very happenin’ jerky. I love the names of The Jerky Connection products. We have 5 of their products to review, and while some like this Teriyaki Habanero beef jerky have normal names, you got to get a load of their other products on their website. Such hits as Louisiana Road Kill, Santa’s Flaming Sleigh Ride, Satan’s Flaming Hemorrhoids, and 7 Gates of Hell to name a few of my favorites. The 4 other beef jerky flavors in the order that we will be doing them in over the next 4 weeks is Insanity, Hillbilly Hangover, World Destruction and lastly we finish off with The Reaper.

REVIEW: Smoke Canyon – Smoke Roasted Jalapeño Sauce

Smoke Canyon - Smoke Roasted Jalapeno Sauce

2012 Winner of THE HOT PEPPER Awards Best Hot Sauce of the Year, Named Best Product for 2012 on ScottRobertsweb.com and listed on the 2012 best hot sauces of the year on HotSauceDaily.com. It looks like you do not get on a “best of” list of 3 spicy product review websites without having a very good product, and winning the prestigious Hot Pepper Award is one thing, but Best Hot Sauce? Now that says a lot! Jay Abbey aka Jay-Bird, the man behind Smoke Canyon connected with me to setup one of our multiple person reviews to see if our own staff of spicy product lovers would concur with the above assessments. For this review our team consists of Wisconsin’s Heynetboy, Alabama’s Jacob Robertson and John Huber who hails from Buffalo, NY. We have a nice spread of regions, so this will really put this sauce to the test. Before we get to the review, let us learn a little about Smoke Canyon as taken from their website.

REVIEW: Dat’s Nice – Datil Pepper Hotter-n-Hell Sauce

Datil Pepper Hotter-n-Hell Sauce

This is our 6th and last review for the Dat’s Nice Hot Sauce company out of St. Augustine, Florida. The reviews have been very positive after the first review which was a bit average for the most part. Zombie and Heynetboy seem to really love the product line including this one. I would like to thank Joe Stewart for allowing us to review his pride and joy and wish him much success in the future.

REVIEW: Dat’s Nice – Datil Pepper Mango Salsa

Datil Pepper Mango Salsa

We are at our 5th review out of 6 for the Dat’s Nice Hot Sauce Company. You can follow the other reviews below and see what you have missed thus far, which to me are very good reviews. The Datil Pepper in so many different forms, and it doesn’t stop here with this mango salsa. Our review team is short Big Rob for this one as the review is lost somewhere, but we still have Heynetboy & Zzombie to knock them out. We usually leave our salsa reviews to our salsa loving Fire Dawgs, but I am sure they will be jealous once they see how much these guys loved this salsa.

REVIEW: Dat’s Nice – Datil Pepper Chickin Dippin Sauce

Datil Pepper Chickin Dippin Sauce

We are entering our 4th product review for Dat’s Nice Hot Sauce company. A company that brings you the datil pepper in so many different ways. While the first sauce received a little above the average review, the Mango Sauce and BBQ Sauce got rave reviews from our reviewer panel. Heynetboy scored a 4 1/2 on the Mango Sauce and topped that with the highest and rarest of ratings with a 5 last week for their BBQ Sauce. The datil pepper is looking good once again in this honey mustard type of sauce. You can check the other reviews out below if you want the complete lowdown on these products.

REVIEW: Dat’s Nice – Datil Pepper Mango Sauce

We have the 2nd review out of 6 for the Dat’s Nice Hot Sauce company. The datil pepper gets highighted completely with the Dat’s Nice product line. It might not be the hottest of peppers, but my experience with trying other datil pepper sauces it is a good tasting pepper. In the first review we did the original Dat’s Nice Datil Pepper Sauce which you can see HERE or HERE or if you really don’t like to click there, you can click HERE. Once again our review team consists of Heynetboy, Zzombie & this time with Big Daddy B at his side, and our newbie Big Rob. It seems like we have a winner here, so check it out!

REVIEW: Heartbreaking Dawn’s 1542 Chocolate Habanero Sauce

This is our last of 2 reviews for Heartbreaking Dawns. We reviewed their Strawberry Trail Preserves
on Black Friday to get everybody a chance to capitalize on the big sale they had going on. The preserves got a great review with ratings of 4,4, and 4 1/2 from our review team of Heynetboy, G and John Huber. Will they be as enamored with their 1542 Chocolate Habanero hot sauce? Only time will tell. I would like to thank owner and spicy culinary creator Johnny McLaughlin for allowing us to review his love and joy. I wish him nothing but the best for the near future, and with a baby on the way with his lovely wife Nicole, I hope the blessings are doubly wonderful. Now on with the review…

REVIEW: Dat’s Nice – Datil Pepper Sauce

Dat’s Nice has 6 products for us to review, all highlighting the datil pepper. We start with their original datil pepper hot sauce, and if first impressions are everything as they say, then their tag line on the bottle should get the average chilehead ready to dive right in – “it’s not the original…it’s not world’s famous…it’s just awesome!” Hopefully it isn’t just mere words. Our review team for this St Augustine, Florida spicy product company is Heynetboy out of Wisconsin, ZZombie from Louisiana and hailing from Ohio making his debut, the one and only Big Rob. Before we get to the reviews, let us get a little information first.

REVIEW: Heartbreaking Dawns – Strawberry Trail Preserves

With Black Friday here I wanted to put up a review for my friend Johnny McLaughlin and to share this review with my audience because I personally think this is one of the better preserves out there to be had. In 2010, I created the Lenny Awards in memory of my departed Father and to reward best products of the year. I presented Heartbreaking Dawns(HBD), one for their Fiery Trail Preserves, presently my favorite product they make. Later Johnny followed that up with a very tasty datil pepper and mango preserve. To complete the trio he has introduced this strawberry one. This preserve is mixed with the world’s hottest pepper, the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion, but it is a good mix that will bring out the flavor of the pepper and not too much of the heat you would expect. It is an enjoyable burn with a flavorful mix of fruit (strawberries and cranberries) that you will come back to again and again.

REVIEW: Lord Nut Levington – Sweet Miss Keet peanuts

Over the last 5 weeks we have have reviewed some rather unorthodox flavored peanuts from Lord Nut Levington. We have achieved 2 of the highest ratings from 2 of our reviewers for 2 different peanut flavors. While our reviewers might not agree which nut is ultimately the best flavor, they all agree that Lord Nut Levington has brought some needed uniqueness to the world of nuts. I was recently moved by these reviews to purchase these nuts and so far I have enjoyed everything I have tried. It is FREE SHIPPING, so it was well worth it at under $5/container.
