UCCFS: Chili vs Clam Chowder

This Ultimate Chilehead Comfort Food Showdown meets 3 seed, Chili vs 14 seed, Clam Chowder(Chowda as it is pronounced in New England). My Dad liked the less popular Manhattan Clam Chowder, in fact I did too. I never got the creamy version referred to most as New England Clam Chowder. Boy do they love their chowda up there. They speak about it like it is more than just a comfort food, but a way of life. You do not dare speak of Manhattan Clam Chowder in those parts unless you care to fight. Even with that said, is it well thought up enough to tackle the mighty chili, with or without beans. That should be another throwdown. Bean Chili vs Beanless Chili. I won’t even spark an argument with my thoughts on that.

Folks, we are talking about two thick style of soups. Chili might not really be a soup, but it is often served and eaten like one. It is thick, but essentially it is a soup in most every other way. Perhaps the most popular soups ever to be served. Can Clam Chowda make a respectful challenge to hang with Chili? Tell us what you think.

no decent clam chowder around these parts so I had to vote for chili. I’ve had a lot more exposure to chili.

I never liked white clam chowder. I try to stay away from food that resembles vomit. However I will eat Manhattan Style Clam chowder.

Really no contest here. It’s like pitting Rosie O’Donnell up against Jessica Alba.

Yep would take Jessica Alba. But I have a better comparison Buddah vs Cindy Crawford.
